Calculate your own horse costs

Start with board or livery, then add the other amounts. Missing a price? Leave that item as Not yet known. If part is included, enter only what you pay extra.

This calculator processes your entries only in this tab and does not send or save them. Reloading clears your entries. Download your overview first if you want to keep it.

For changing amounts, enter the full annual cost and set payments to 1. List the parts in the source field.

Savings are not care expenses. This reserve is shown separately and is not added to the costs.

What it does

  • Converts your payments into annual costs and a monthly average.
  • Keeps unknown prices and included services visible.
  • Creates a printable table and a CSV for Excel or Numbers.

What it doesn’t do

  • Does not set a standard price for keeping a horse.
  • Covers ongoing costs. Purchase and initial equipment need a separate budget.
  • Does not transfer entries to the app. Savings stay separate from costs.

What happens to your input

Your amounts and notes stay in this tab and are not saved or sent. Download the result before closing the page. Only use and export actions are counted, without your entries.

Start with what your board or livery includes

Enter the agreed total price for your horse’s board or livery. Mark included feed, bedding and care so they are not counted twice. Use your own quotes and bills for the remaining items.

Use twelve payments for a monthly bill and one for an annual bill. For varying bills, enter your own annual total and one payment. Appointment counts come from your own arrangements, not from this calculator.

The monthly average is the annual total divided by twelve. It does not predict next month’s bills. Any savings amount you choose appears separately below the costs.

Questions about the calculator

Does this include buying a horse?

This table covers ongoing costs. Budget separately for purchase, a pre-purchase examination, transport at purchase and initial equipment. The calculator does not automatically spread those amounts across future years.

Are contributions from a sharer deducted?

No. The table shows costs before other people’s contributions. Record any agreed contribution separately. Riding days are not used to calculate a price here.

Can I come back to my table?

Download the CSV and continue in a spreadsheet app. This website does not save your entries or import the CSV. All amounts on this page are in euros.
