Good to know
What it does
- Puts name, stable, who to call, feed and particulars on one A5 card.
- Puts the date on it, so everyone can see whether it still applies.
- Prints on A5 or A4, ready to laminate and hang on the door.
What it doesn’t do
- Stores nothing and makes no link: phone numbers don’t belong in an address bar.
- Doesn’t replace the passport.
- Doesn’t update itself: new feed means a new stable card.
What happens to your input
What you enter stays in your browser and disappears when you close the page. There is deliberately no link to share, because phone numbers are on it. Nothing is sent to a server; we only count that the tool was used.
What goes on a good stable card
The stable card is for someone other than you: someone who sees your horse standing with a swollen leg at seven in the evening. That person wants to know three things: who do I call, what may I do, and what must I not do. So the numbers go at the top, the feed below, and “do not feed without asking” as a fixed line, because a well-meant carrot from the neighbour is no small thing for a sugar-sensitive horse.
Put on it only what everyone may know. Your home address doesn’t belong on it; your phone number does, because that is what the stable card is for. A second contact is the difference between half an hour and half a day’s wait when you are in a meeting.
Questions
Can I add a photo?
Not in this web version; that keeps the tool quick and free of uploads. Stick a photo next to the stable card.
How often do I make a new stable card?
With every change someone else needs to know: new feed, a course of medication, a different vet. The date shows whether the card still applies.
